Wheels Wednesday!

This week our letter study has been all about the letter Ww....and we know that wheels starts with w!

Today we had 'Wheels Wednesday' together with E7!  We brought our scooters, bikes and skateboards to school.  Mrs Graham made a scooter race track with the cones.   We rode our scooters around the race track together.

We were awesome at:

Sharing and Taking Turns.  We made sure our friends who didn't bring wheels to school all had a turn as well.  We took turns on the scooters.  We were happy to have a break from scootering because our legs got super tired!

Problem Solving.
Hope had to make the handle bars go down on her scooter so that Aston could have a turn and reach them safely.  Tino Pai Hope!

Looking after each other.  Mugundhan fell off his scooter and grazed his knee.  Poor Mugundhan! Luckily Nurse Yusra and Nurse Afreen were there to check the damage and give him a hug to make him feel better!

Having a go.  For some of us, balancing on the scooter was tricky but we were resilient.  We kept on trying!  We didn't give up at all!

What a super duper day we had scootering in the sunshine together!

Te Akonga o te Wiki - Our Student of the Week

This week our super star student award goes to Anesh ...

Anesh has been working hard at story writing time.  He aims high and gives it a try! He has been concentrating extra hard.
He is getting really clever at reading his sentences as he writes, so he can check that he is writing down what he wants to say.
Anesh is a super duper speller too! He stretches tricky words like chewing gum and writes down all the sounds he can hear.
We think you are a hard worker Anesh!

Tino Pai Anesh - we are super lucky to have you in our class!

Anesh gets to take Bobby Bear home for the weekend.  Click on Bobby Bear's page at the top of our blog to see what adventures they have together!

Book Week

This Week we have been celebrating Book Week at school.  We have read some fantastic stories together and every afternoon the teachers all swapped classrooms to read to a different class.   We had so much fun discovering new books to enjoy.

On Friday we all dressed up as our favourite book character.  Can  you guess who we are?

I can see Harry Potter,  a Pharaoh and Thing 1 ... do you know what books they have popped out of?

I can see some fancy Book Day Hats,  a King and an exquisite Fancy Nancy!
Wow! Jacob brought his favourite book to school to show us!
He looked pretty awesome dressed up as Darth Vader.
Look at Lohita and Yusra - don't they look beautiful - Lohita wore her special Barbie Dress to school.
Mugundhan the Sheriff rounded up those giggling princesses.  Thank goodness he was on hand to keep everyone in line!

100 Days at School

Wow! In E6 we have been at school for 100 days!  We are now 100 days smarter!  We dressed up today to celebrate our 100th day at school.

Some of us made necklaces.  We had 100 marshmallows, 100 loom bands and even 100 buttons!  Some of us printed off special 100 day shirts to wear!  Some of us even made super duper  hats to wear!

Look at Dhruv's fancy shirt!
He wrote a number sentence on his shirt.
20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 100
How many groups of 20 do we need to make 100 - can you work it out?
Pepper Jo's Mummy knitted her a colourful shawl to wear, and she came along with a walking stick.   Pepper Jo had creaky old bones because she dressed up like she was a 100 year old lady!
What a yummy lunch we had together to celebrate.  I can see a fruit platter making the number 100!  Zoe brought along a yummy cake to eat with the number 100 on the top.  Josh brought us a super sparkly candle.  We went out side and sat in a big circle to watch the sparkly candle! Thanks Josh for that special treat!

What amazing learning adventures we have had together so far!
I wonder what the next 100 days will bring?

All about Ants

We have been learning about Ants.  We know that Ants are insects because we have identified their special features.  We made paper ants and gave their body parts labels.  We wrote some facts about Ants.

Look at our Amazing Ants!

Listen to us share our learning

We are starting to understand what an insect is.  We used our new learning about the special features of an insect to help us do a special sorting activity.

We worked as a team to identify each living creature and work out if it was an insect or not!  Listen below to us sharing our learning.

Come and Read our Word-a-pillar!

Our word-a-pillar is growing.  He is nearly all the way along one wall of our classroom.

We read and write our word-a-pillar lots and lots in E6! Can you?
