This week our super star student award goes to Joshua ...

Joshua is a kind and caring friend to everyone in E6.  He always has a big smile on his face and he says really kind things to everyone.

Buddy Time

Today we met our buddy class for the first time.  Our buddies are in Year 4.  Their teacher is Mr O'Sullivan.   

Today for buddy time we did some buddy reading.  We got to sit outside in the sunshine and listen to our buddies read to us.

We are going to do lots of fun things with our buddy class this year.  Our buddies look after us at lunch time, and play with us in the playground too.  It is great to have lots of buddies at Eastern Hutt School!

Numbers Numbers Numbers!

In E6 we love numbers.  We are learning to count, read, write and say numbers correctly.  We love to watch the big numbers song every day because it makes learning to count fun.   We have saved it to our blog.  Go to our numeracy page above or watch it below.

We have been learning to count forwards and backwards.  We went outside and used the chalk to write numbers to 10 forwards and backwards.   Have a look at and see what clever math-magicians we are!

Learning to Write

We are learning to write stories in E6.  Today some of us did our story writing on the mini whiteboards.  At writing time we are learning to:

• draw a picture plan
• write a sentence about our picture plan
• leave spaces between words
• use some words that we know
• write down some letter sounds that we can hear in tricky words

Wow, there is a lot to think about! Having a go is hard work (and sometimes a little bit scary) but look how proud we are of our super star learning today!

Junior School Athletics

We went to the senior field. We did some athletics.  Our favourite activity was the Hurdles. 

We had to lift our legs and feet up high so that we didn't knock the hurdle over.  It was tricky.  We laughed a lot while we were learning!

The title of our big book this week was Dan the Flying Man.  Joy Cowley wrote the story. She is the author.

Our Poem of the Week

We have been learning all about the letter C, and to read and write the words  at and  the.  This week our poem of the week was about clowns.    Our clown poem helped us to celebrate our new learning!
