Our 'Spotty 5' Ladybugs

Come and see our beautiful ladybugs hanging on our classroom wall...

We had to put 5 spots on our ladybug.  First we cut out 5 black paper spots all by ourself.  Then we had a lucky dip and pulled a fact to 5 out of a bucket.  We had to make the spots on our ladybugs wings match our addition fact to 5.  We glued them down carefully in the right place.

We have been learning to say and write equations (number sentences) using the words and symbols for 'plus' and 'equals'.

Come and see our lovely ladybugs!
We know lots of ways to make 5.

We are math-magicians!
We are going to learn to instantly recall some of these addition facts - that means we have 4 seconds to say the answer!

  1. My gosh you have all learned so much this year already and are now math magicians! I really like how you are combing bugs and numbers. I wonder how many ways you can make six legs on an insect?

    Hope's Dad.
